The new 2023AW collection  “Warmth” - Fluffy Things -
A pop-up shop is being held at CREER until September 30th 🐈‍⬛

We will introduce the collection along with photos from our visit to the exhibition.

This is arguably the main textile of this collection. It's an ink painting by contemporary artist Dai Okumura.

This work depicts cats with various expressions, drawn boldly and vigorously. They're all smiling, but something is different. Some have dark ink, some have light ink. Designer Aya Noguchi was inspired by this artwork and incorporated it into her clothing designs.

Black and white cats are printed in a large, bold design. It's unique, but not too flashy, and blends into everyday life.

 "Warmth" - Fluffy Things -

My heart melts when I touch something warm. When I touch it, the soft, smooth fuzz captures my heart and never lets go. Generous and natural. A small presence that soothes us just by being there.

The warmth of fabric. The warmth of being enveloped by something. The warmth of the invisible. The warmth that tells us who we are.

......................................................

What does it feel like to touch something warm? One day, while vaguely pondering this, I encountered an ink painting of cats by artist Mr. Okumura. And they were black and white ones. Mr. Okumura's work, painted with a thick brush, had a bold brushstroke yet exuded a gentle, joyful warmth. "They're just like my cats!" With a cat owner's sentiment, it was love at first sight. Soon after, I bought that painting.

That was the beginning of its connection to this fabric.

ayanoguchiaya's clothing aims to create items that allow you to experience the joy and happiness of wearing them, while reflecting on the beauty of natural materials that blend with our skin and making the most of them.

We seek inspiration from traditional East Asian ways of dressing, derived from a single piece of cloth, as well as the essence of Japanese tying and layering techniques. We also unravel the wisdom from workwear and vintage pieces, combining it with ease of movement.

Gently wrapping the body in organic cotton and biodegradable linen. Shapes that move comfortably, beautiful even when wrinkled, and can be worn in multiple ways (front/back, inside/out). We aim to create clothes that stay with the wearer for a long time, allowing for enjoyable coordination by adding pieces one by one. With such thoughts, we produce slowly and carefully.
