FRANK LEDER Vintage Bedsheet Shirt with Side Pockets

Allow me to introduce a shirt from Frank Leder's classic Vintage Bed Linen series.
◯What is “Vintage Bed Linen”?
Many of you probably think that "linen" in the name means the material is linen.
But it's actually cotton.
When I was initially searching for a linen shirt, this Frank Leder shirt popped up in my search results, which is how I first discovered the brand.
It's called "bed linen" because it's a shirt made from fabric that was originally used as bed sheets.

◯The Story Behind the Birth of a Classic Item
Frank Leder's garments use deadstock fabric from the 1960s!
You might wonder why such old fabric is still around as deadstock...
The 1960s was the Cold War era, and during this time, this fabric was mass-produced in Germany for civil defense. It was made not only for bed sheets but also to cover bunkers. However, as times changed, demand gradually decreased, and so it remained stored in warehouses.
And Frank transformed it into clothing!
He's a genius.
◯Points ofこだわり (こだわり: attention to detail)
⑴Buttons
Fabric-covered vintage buttons are used.
Everything about it is cool.
These buttons initially have a dark natural, camel-like (?) color.
But as you wear and wash it repeatedly...
They actually turn white! (These buttons are from my personal vintage bed linen shirt, which has been wine-dyed, so the color may be slightly different. Please use it for reference.)
It's hard to notice the aging of buttons, but if you pay attention to the small details, you might find unexpected new discoveries.
Frank's clothes help you notice such discoveries.
Also, buttons tend to come off after repeated wearing and removal (personally, I think they might be intentionally made to come off easily).
But there's no need to feel down if they come off.
Changing the thread color when reattaching a button, or even replacing the button itself to make the garment uniquely yours, is another charm of Frank's clothing.
⑵Crisp Fabric
This cotton fabric initially has a crisp, stiff texture.
However, with washing, the fabric softens.
Also, the natural color of the fabric seems to get closer to white
(There seems to be shrinkage due to washing, so I recommend buying a slightly larger size).
And the "wrinkles" unique to crisp fabrics.
The wrinkles formed on the garment when you bend your arm remain beautifully.
This is another wonderful point.
⑶Piss Name (Small woven label)
It's like a name tag.
The red lettering stands out beautifully against the white label.
The red letters add an accent to the coordination.
⑷Pockets
This shirt even has pockets!
And quite spacious ones, too.
Having large pockets is really convenient~
Summary
I've talked about Frank Leder's vintage bed linen shirt. It's a garment that can be worn as fashionable wear or used daily without worrying too much.
Currently, an overwhelming number of people buy used clothes, and Frank Leder's clothing also pairs well with vintage pieces.
I believe that Frank's classic items, filled with his attention to detail, are masterpieces.
